Gabriel Feltz and Sergey Khachatryan

Concert dedicated to the memory of Zoran Djindjić
The Belgrade Philharmonic welcomes the world-renowned violinist Sergey Khachatryan once again, this time for a performance of Jean Sibelius’ Violin Concerto, a masterpiece and cornerstone of the violin repertoire.
In the second half of the program, we present one of the season’s highlights; a symphonic work by Austrian composer Franz Schmidt, in front of the Serbian audience for the first time. Symphony No. 4 is widely regarded as the most significant composition of this author, who lived and composed in the period between the end of 19th and beginning of 20th century. The work’s atmosphere is best described as a blend of joy and sorrow, the majesty of the Alpine landscape, and profound poetic sensibility. If you love the music of Mahler and Richard Strauss, this might be the greatest symphony you have never heard (Royal Scottish National Orchestra Program Book, 2022-23).
